5 FREE PERSONS
5.1 In times of war and raid, all Free Men are expected to defend their village and Home Stone.
5.2. Face stripping of any Free Woman of the Isle of Tarns is considered a serious offense and may face penalty ranging from lashings to death.
5.2.a. Any female Citizen or Resident who acts in a slave-like manner or disrespects the authority or person of a male Citizen or Resident, may be arrested by city authorities (usually Scarlet or Praetor) and brought before the Magistrate.
5.2.b. Any female visitor who acts in a slave-like manner, or disrespects the authority or person of a male Citizen or Resident may be face stripped, and becomes the property of the male doing so.
5.3 All weapons must be visible. Free Women are exempt from this rule for concealed daggers and hair pins.
5.4 Free women are not required to wear veils, but it is strongly recommended those of high castes wear the street veil.
5.4.a. Free Women are expected to wear gowns that do not reveal skin other than faces, necks, and hands.
5.4.b. She-urts are excepted from this strict rule of exposed skin. (see She-Urts)
5.5 A Free Woman may only enter the Tavern with an escort, however no action in the tavern will change with her presence there. If the Free Woman is offended, she may leave. If she enters the tavern without an escort she places herself at a risk of being immediately collared.
5.6 Free Women are prohibited from engaging in public displays of lewd and lascivious behavior. Violation of this law will result in a determination by a magistrate on the acceptable punishment up to, and including, enslavement.
5.7 If a Free Woman kneels before a Free Man or addresses him as Master, this one act is sufficient to immediately make her a slave. Her actions are interpreted as a gesture of submission.
5.7.a. Commonly men sit cross-legged and Free Women kneel upon a cushion. This is not an act submission. A woman must willingly kneel explicitly before a man or kneel before him by his command.
5.8 The companionship contract of a Free who is enslaved will be declared null and void.
5.9 Free Citizens may collar any unowned slave that arrives at the village as their own personal slave.
5.10 Free Citizens and Residents may collar any unowned slave to the village of the Isle of Tarns.
5.11 It is a serious crime for any citizen or resident to aid, abet, shelter, or to assist anyone from an enemy city, port, village, etc. in any manner, except:
* to provide medical assistance to said enemy after the completion of a battle/raid.
* to arrest or interrogate said enemy
* to negotiate an end to the conflict with the enemy.
5.11.1 Conviction of the offense in 5.11 may result in whipping, collaring, banishment from the village, or impalement, at the discretion of the High Magistrate.
